Virgil Crank
The other day I received notice that we will have a very special guest visit us at our Pot Luck party. Virgil Crank, Master Yamashita's old instructor, and the man who actually started the Sanbukan Dojo, before Sensei took it over.
From what Ive heard of Sensei Crank, he has had quite an interesting life. I can't wait to meet him this Saturday.

Holiday break and feast
2009 flew past us with amazing speed. I hardly know what to say other then, THANKS! Thanks to all of our wonderful students and of course to the Senseis', Mits, Larry, Johann, Pete, Bill etc. Without everyone coming together to learn from eachother, we wouldn't have this magical place.
As is tradition for our school, we will be shutting down the Dojo for a few days to allow you all to visit families and loved ones. Our last formal class of the year will be Saturday December 19th and we will resume classes on Saturday January 2nd.
Breaking with tradition, our annual Holiday Pot Luck Party will be held after the first class of the new year. On January 2nd 2010. So come prepared with your favorite foods and goodies. There will be a regular class on Saturday, but afterward, we'll peel back the mats and set out the buffet tablet.
See you all in class.

Love's Lost
Last Saturday Sensei told us all of the recent passing of Shirley Starr. Shirley was the beloved wife and friend to one of our oldest students, Jerry Starr.
For those of you who don't know Jerry, he was a Green Belt when I first started 12+ years ago. And in all the time he only took one test, to Second Green. Preferring instead to stay in the lower ranks and help new students learn the ropes, Myself included. He has always been a kind hearted and extremely generous old man.
Jerry stopped attending Aikido about 3 years ago to attend to his ailing wife, Shirley. We all owe alot to Jerry and we all feel for him in his time of loss.
